These terms govern use of Cartbeat, a Shopify app for open-cart recovery email and optional Comebacks SMS. By installing or using Cartbeat you agree to them on behalf of the store and merchant account that installs the app.

The service

Cartbeat helps merchants send timed recovery messages for abandoned Shopify checkouts, optional offers (coupon, gift, BOGO, free shipping when configured), optional AI-assisted copy, recovery reporting, and optional Comebacks SMS for past customers. Features may be labeled beta and can change.

Your responsibilities

Billing

Paid plans are charged through Shopify Billing (or other methods we enable). Trial periods, the base plan, and optional Offer insights are described in the app and on cartbeat.app. Cancel through Shopify to stop renewals. Usage costs for SMS (Twilio) and any merchant-owned email infrastructure are separate from Cartbeat subscription fees.

Data

We process merchant and shopper data as described in our Privacy Policy. You instruct us to process shopper checkout and messaging data to operate recovery and related features. Shopify’s required customer data request and redaction webhooks are implemented as described in that policy.

Acceptable use

Do not use Cartbeat to spam, harass, evade unsubscribe or STOP, send unlawful content, probe security, or overload the service. We may suspend access for abuse, unpaid bills, or risk to shoppers or infrastructure.

AI features

When AI copy is enabled, drafts are generated from cart and shop context under product rules. Models can err; copy is checked against configured offers where the product enforces it, and templates may send if a draft fails checks. You remain responsible for what ships to shoppers.

Disclaimers

The service is provided “as is.” We do not guarantee deliverability, recovery rates, inbox placement, carrier SMS acceptance, or uninterrupted uptime. Attribution and recovered-revenue figures depend on tracking, store configuration, and shopper behavior.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Cartbeat’s total liability arising out of the service is limited to the fees you paid for Cartbeat in the three months before the claim. We are not liable for lost profits, lost data, or indirect damages.

Changes

We may update these terms. Material changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date. Continued use after the update constitutes acceptance.
